Duty and Death: a fragrance that lingered in the depths of my mind for years, an idea that haunted me long before my journey as a perfumer began. The tale of the Battle of Hunayn has always resonated deeply within me, striking a chord I couldn’t quite understand for so long.
For the longest time, I didn’t realise how profoundly connected I was to that battle and its sacred ground. I never made the connection between my love for perfumes and the echoes of courage and sacrifice from Hunayn. It was only through reflection that I began to see how these threads wove together.
Deciding to name our brand “Hunayn” was a monumental leap of faith for my wife and I. Starting this venture was something we both approached with a mix of fear and hope. But just as the soldiers at Hunayn found victory through bravery and faith, we aspired to embrace their courage and take our own leap into the unknown.
“Duty and Death” was crafted as an homage to those who gave their lives in the Battle of Hunayn. The scent is intentionally dark and heavy, embodying the weight and finality of battle. Yet within its depths, we included sublime notes of incense to capture the calmness that comes with acceptance and rest.
Through this fragrance, we seek to honor the profound human spirit, a gentle reminder of resilience, courage, and the peace that can be found even amidst life’s greatest challenges.
