After exploring the colors of kinam/kyara in our past extraits – white, red, green, purple, and yellow – the next instalment is here: the austere, contemplative side of kyara. White Kyara.

White Kyara is not about sweetness or flamboyant florals. It is about stillness. The quiet bitterness of ancient wood. The aroma of steeping tea leaves, medicinal roots, and polished resin rising like pale smoke from a Subitism burner.

Where Yellow Kinam leaned into pollen-honey florals and prairie brightness, White Kyara turns inward. The emphasis here is the most contemplative side of kyara’s personality: bitter tea, Chinese herbal apothecary, old wood cabinets filled with dried roots and bark.

Anyone who has stepped into a traditional Chinese medicine shop will recognize the atmosphere instantly. The scent of dried angelica root, licorice bark, aged ginseng, and dark tea leaves stacked in wooden drawers. Not harsh, not medicinal in the clinical sense, but ancient, grounding, and quietly intoxicating.

Capturing this facet required something very special. Rather than using ordinary alcohol as the carrier, the entire base of White Kyara is a super-rich aged black tea tincture. The tea was steeped slowly to draw out its full tannic depth – bittersweet, malty – creating a living solvent that amplifies the natural tea-like qualities already present in white kyara.

When first applied, White Kyara greets you with a cooling whisper of herbal bitterness and dry tea leaves. It feels almost weightless, like the faint vapor rising from a gently warmed kyara chip. Soon after, deeper facets emerge: rooty Chinese herbs, dry woods, and the unmistakable bittersweet resin of high-grade oud that sits perfectly between austere and comforting.

Hints of creamy lactonic softness appear later, softening the edges just enough to keep the bitterness from becoming stern. Think of a cup of dark tea with a drop of milk, sitting beside a sizzling kyara chip in a quiet room.
